Thousands Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Around twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Locals witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair power throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
State Emergency Services received 598 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing - various assistance requests
- Wyndham area - 179 calls for assistance
At the height on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk expected across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the region.
